When Johnny Depp Recounted His Strange Experience With M Night Shyamalan and Withdrew From A Project Due to the Director’s “Strange” Behavior

In a previous documentary, Johnny Depp talked about an odd meeting he had with director M Night Shyamalan.

Unusual conduct, both on and off-screen, is nothing new for Johnny Depp. Not only did he play outrageous roles in Tim Burton films like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Edward Scissorhands, but his strange behavior in interviews and public appearances is widely known.

Recall the 2015 Venice Film Festival, when the actor made light of the fact that he and his then-wife Amber Heard had caused a global commotion by bringing their canines to Australia without following the correct quarantine procedures.

The reporters were shocked when Johnny Depp said, “I killed my dogs and ate them under direct orders from some kind of; I don’t know, a sweaty, big-gutted man from Australia.”

Let’s just say that Johnny Depp has a history of odd behavior. One would assume the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star would be unaffected by unusual antics given his quirks. The actor, meanwhile, was perplexed by his meeting with director M Night Shyamalan, whose work explores the paranormal and who has fostered the notion that he is spiritually gifted and somewhat extraterrestrial.

What was stated by Johnny Depp regarding M Night Shyamalan?

In Nathaniel Kahn’s documentary “The Buried Secret of M Night Shyamalan,” released more than 20 years ago, Johnny Depp described a strange encounter with the filmmaker.

Many claim that it is a mockumentary that the director made himself as a publicity stunt for his 2004 film “The Village.” The Sci-Fi Channel and director M. Night Shyamalan originally supported the concept, according to the LA Times. But when Shymalan quit taking part because the questions got too personal, it turned into an “unauthorized documentary.”

Thus, Nathaniel Kahn went on and produced a mockumentary that featured interviews with famous people, such as Johnny Depp, who talked about their strange encounters with the filmmaker.

Johnny Depp claims that the director’s authoritarian style caused him to back out of a Night project.

In the mockumentary, Johnny Depp and Kahn meet in a Chateau Marmont room in Los Angeles. Entering the room, Depp tells the director all he can recall, including how his domineering behavior caused him to back out of a Night project.

About movies and other media, Depp remarked, “It was the strangest thing I’ve ever been through, and I’ve been in weird ones.” “That went to another level, and it felt like he was fishing, you know?” Depp went on. Like he was attempting to sever me with his claws at the deep.

Depp went on to say that he was required to sign an NDA committing him to keep Night and his “world” a secret.

“It’s not worth it,” Depp said as he wrapped up the interview. What he’s up to is unknown to me. It’s just movies. It is a movie theater. Once in a while, go out and enjoy yourself. Grab a doughnut on the way.

Whether Depp was acting for the camera remains to be seen. But at the time, the story was picked up by several outlets. As a result, network president Bonnie Hammer stated that Night was no longer involved in the documentary and had withdrawn from it. Apparently, without Night’s help, documentarian Nathaniel Kahn persisted and completed a three-hour film.

What caused M. Night Shyamalan to withdraw from the documentary?

After Kahn persisted in his belief that Night sees and converses with the dead, Night withdrew from the project, according to the Independent.

There is a story that Night drowned as a youngster, died, and then returned from the afterlife to start making movies using his knowledge of the netherworld. This is said to be the source of his connection to the paranormal world.
