Manamey Review: A good family drama

“Manamey,” released on June 7, 2024, received a moderate rating of three out of five. The film features a talented ensemble cast including Shiva Kandukuri, Rahul Ravindran, Ayesha Khan, Rahul Ramakrishna, Seerat Kapoor, Vikram Aditya, Sharwanand, and Krithi Shetty. Directed by Aditya Sriram and produced by T.G. Vishwa Prasad, it offers music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Gnanashekar V.S. and Vishnu Sarma. Prawin Pudi takes on the editing responsibilities.

The family drama Manamey, starring Krithi Shetty and Sharwanand, opened in theaters today to a respectable amount of buzz. Read the review to find out how the movie is.

Story:

A startling sequence of events transpires as Kushi steps in to tie the carefree playboy Vikram and the engaged Subhadra together. Could they fulfill the obligations they had to Kushi? Kushi’s parents are no longer with him. Do the caretakers and the child’s family have a stronger bond? Your questions will be answered as the film’s story progresses.

Positive Points:

It’s hard to ignore Sharwanand‘s stylish aura, upbeat disposition, and flawless comic timing. Sincere laughter is produced by his playboy antics and flirty conversation. Their scenes together are made more endearing by Krithi Shetty and Sharwanand’s rapport.

The impact of Vikram Adittya’s debut performance is subtle and appealing. The supporting cast gives good performances, while the background music and soundtrack work well together to enhance the mood of the film.

Negative Points:

The narrative has a captivating start, but as the halfway point approaches, it loses steam and doesn’t have the emotional depth that would have kept the audience interested.

Even though Kushi, played by Vikram Aditya, is the main character, his presence lessens considerably in the second part. With numerous characters & subplots taking focus away from the primary story, the film’s second half lacks emotional resonance.

The whole watching experience suffers as writer-director Sriram Adittya is unable to maintain the level of interest shown in the first half. The film’s flaws are exacerbated by its cliched plot and uninspired conclusion.

To improve story involvement, some characters—like Shiva Kandukuri, Seerat Kapoor, and Mukesh Rishi—should have had more development. Another issue is that there aren’t many powerful emotional situations involving the leads. Although the soundtrack elevates some scenes, the songs don’t leave much of an effect.

Technical Details:

Both the writer and director, Sriram Adittya, passed up a chance to make the second half as enjoyable as the first. Because of the shallow writing, viewers are left wondering what the main plot point is.

The main songs by Hesham Abdul Wahab don’t stick with you, but his background recordings are excellent and give the tunes some depth. The visually pleasing aesthetics of Gnana Sekhar and Vishnu Sharma’s cinematography are impressive.

Particularly in the second hour, Prawin Pudi’s editing might use more polish. The CGI work lacks polish and consistency, which makes it fall short of expectations even though the production values are decent. It is necessary to recognize the innovative abilities of the costume designers.

Conclusion:

Manamey is a respectable family drama overall, with Sharwanand giving a noteworthy performance and Krithi Shetty making an impression on her part. The movie’s dull second half and little emotional depth detract from the overall impact, even when the soundtrack livens up certain sections. Manamey can amuse family audiences even though it might not speak to everyone.
