Energetic Star Ram Pothineni and mass director Boyapati Sreenu work together for the first time on Skanda. Prior to today’s official theater release, the film garnered a lot of hype.
Story:
The son of Andhra Pradesh CM Rayudu (Ajay Purkar) and Telangana CM Ranjith Reddy (Sharath Lohitashwa) elope. When Bhaskar Raju (Ram Pothineni) enters the scene, Rayudu’s plans to exact retribution are completely altered. The person Bhaskar Raju. What is he living by? Why did he choose to attack both CMs? Raju’s relationship with Rudraganti Ramakrishna Raju (Srikanth) is unclear. The film provides all the solutions.
Plus Points:
The remarkable metamorphosis Ram Pothineni underwent for this movie is notable. His beast mode is amazing, particularly when he defeats foes in action scenes. Along with his ubiquitous presence, his superb line delivery gives the situation even more impact.
As a heroine, Sreeleela is less striking, yet she still shows off her skills by captivating viewers with her stunning looks and dance prowess.
The entire show is focused on Srikanth, who plays a superb character despite having little screen time. Daggubati Raju also had a good performance.
Thaman should be commended for his superb soundtrack, which improves several sequences.
Minus Points:
The phrase “Forget the logic to enjoy the magic” is one that aptly describes Boyapati Sreenu’s most recent films, particularly the battle sequences in this one. In this respect, Skanda is not unique. Even while the bouts are entertaining and provide the audience with an adrenaline boost, there may be times when they wonder how this is even possible.
Boyapati Sreenu should focus more on the fact that the article largely delivers nothing new. The first few minutes of the movie are interesting, but it quickly loses steam and keeps moving slowly in the second half.
He has to concentrate more on the narrative, which should be interesting, rather than just writing mass phrases that make viewers jump and directing mass battles that make fans whistle.
Both the songs’ order and location need work. The remainder are forgettable, with the exception of a few tracks.
There are too many characters introduced in the movie that don’t really add much to the storyline, such as Indraja, Gautami, and others. They should have been allowed greater freedom by the director, even only to deliver a few phrases.
The emotional component in the second half is passable but not very strong. It might have been made better. Some of the talks focus on political parties, although they may be more relatable to general audiences, particularly in B and C centers.
Technical elements
Boyapati Sreenu makes a comeback with a family-friendly film with a stronger emphasis on action than on sentiment. M. Ratnam’s lines are passable and occasionally give you shivers.
The opening half of the film, in particular, has a lively background soundtrack by Thaman that improves numerous moments. The battle scenes include some of Santosh Detake’s best cinematography.
The editing is good, but there are a lot of sequences in the second half that should have been cut for a better pace. The production quality is excellent.
Verdict:
Overall, Skanda is an entertaining mass-action film that features a strong performance by Ram Pothineni, exciting action sequences, and dances that are worth seeing. While the general public and fans will appreciate this high-octane entertainment, certain viewers may not be interested in it due to its uncomplicated plot, bizarre action sequences, and slow second half. If you are okay with these elements, you could see this movie this weekend.
