P. Vasu has now created Chandramukhi 2, the follow-up to Chandramukhi, one of the greatest horror movies ever created. Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut have prominent roles in the sequel. The film was well-marketed and debuted today on theater screens. Let’s have a look at it.

Story:

Rao Ramesh advises an affluent family led by Radhika Sarathkumar to make prayers to their family god because they have been experiencing a lot of problems. The temple where they must offer prayers is close to Vettaiya’s palace. Radhika’s family has a lease on the palace from Basavaiah (Vadivelu). However, they are mostly unaware of Chandramukhi’s malevolent spirit’s existence in the palace. What difficulties afterward faced Radhika’s family? How is Radhika’s family connected to Madhan (Lawrence)? What does Chandramukhi’s spirit desire specifically? The central theme of Chandramukhi 2 is this.

Plus Points

The movie features a top-notch performance by National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut. She delivered a great performance and was perfectly cast as Chandramukhi. She had a gorgeous appearance and had great screen presence. Her dancing is incredible.

The film’s well-crafted Chandramukhi history is one of its strong points. The creators changed the plot when Kangana performed the title part. The second half features some decent drama. Several of the heartfelt sequences turned out wonderfully. Lakshmi Menon received an unexpected part, which she nailed.

Minus Points:

Chandramukhi 2’s main flaw is that it barely ever contains any exhilarating scenes. Even without jump scares, this film lacks the eerie setting that is a prerequisite for a horror film. These are the components that one would anticipate from a horror movie, yet they are absent from this sequel. The comedy that made Chandramukhi unique turned out to be a major flaw in Chandramukhi 2.

The crowd is extremely irritated with the outmoded and over-the-top humor and Vadivelu’s hackneyed persona. As if it weren’t bad enough, the picture also suffers from the poorly written love song.

The screenplay framework is the same as the original, with a few tweaks to the backstory. While the first film is successful in generating suspense, its follow-up lacks any feeling of urgency and runs on a flat note. The first half may have been cut in large chunks.

Technical Details

M.M. Keeravani attempted to elevate the movie with his background soundtrack, but the writing team is to blame for the lack of exciting parts. Rajasekhar’s cinematography is good. The set work is noteworthy. The VFX components are subpar. Additionally, the editing is subpar.

Regarding Chandramukhi 2, director P. Vasu performed an adequate job. Even if he was accompanied by a fantastic actress like Kangana, the storyline and the cheesy comedic bits in the first hour lessened the effect.

Verdict:

Chandramukhi 2 as a whole functions to a certain extent since the second half is superior to the first. With her performance, Kangana Ranaut steals the stage, while Lawrence also makes an impression in the king role. But it lacks the exciting scenes that one would anticipate from a horror movie. The early half and the stupid humor are the biggest flaws. At the same time, Chandramukhi 2 isn’t a great movie.
