Today saw the theatrical debut of the short film Ala Ninnu Cheri, which starred Dinesh Tej in the title role. To find out how the film is, read our review.

Story:

Divya, a wealthy village belle, falls in love with Ganesh. Divya considers eloping with Ganesh when her single mother attempts to arrange her marriage. However, he is hesitant because of his ambition. What happens next for Divya? What is Ganesh’s goal? How does Anu (Hebah Patel) become involved in his adventure? Ganesh, did you achieve your goal?

Advantages include:

Dinesh Tej, best known for his roles in Husharu and Play Back, gives a solid performance as a man torn between his career and love. He demonstrates his dancing and fighting abilities admirably.

Paayal Radhakrishna gives the film a buoyant charm, emoting lovely expressions. Her love scenes with the protagonist are enchanting.

To some extent, the comedy by the hero’s sidekick, Mahaboob Basha, succeeds. Other actors give good performances in their respective roles.

Points deducted:

The main flaw is the story, which feels overly familiar and has been seen in numerous Telugu films for years. Despite the well-known plot, the director squandered an opportunity to inject a new perspective into an engaging screenplay.

Hebah Patel adds glitz to the film, but most of her scenes are not suitable for children and do not contribute significantly to the plot.

The dialogue is mediocre, with some deliberately aimed at adult audiences. These may not be well received by family audiences.

While the songs are pleasant to listen to, a couple of them lack meaningful lyrics.

Mahesh Achanta’s character could have been fleshed out more, and Chammak Chandra’s role appears unnecessary. Several scenes are inserted without adding significant value, contributing to the film’s length.

Technical Considerations:

Director Maresh Shivan fails to effectively execute the film. Predictable scenes could have been improved with better screenplay and engaging dialogue, but the film instead includes unnecessary and explicit language.

To avoid boredom, the editing team could have cut many scenes. The cinematography and music are average, and despite being debutants, the producers spent a decent amount, which can be seen on the big screen.

Verdict:

Overall, Ala Ninnu Cheri is a disappointing love drama with a predictable plot. Despite Dinesh Tej’s strong performance, the film is marred by unnecessary scenes and inappropriate content. This weekend, it’s a good idea to look into alternative entertainment options.
