Shankar Dada MBBS Re-Release Box Office Day 1 Advance Booking: Chiranjeevi’s Blockbuster Receives Average Response, with approximately 18,000 Tickets Sold Out!

Shankar Dada MBBS, Chiranjeevi’s 2004 blockbuster, will be re-released tomorrow. Here is its box office report for day one booking!

Another blockbuster is making a comeback in South India, as the trend of re-releases continues. This time, it’s megastar Chiranjeevi bringing his blockbuster hit Shankar Dada MBBS to entertain his audience. Recently, not many re-releases have performed well at the box office, so let’s see how this biggie has fared in day 1 booking!

The film, directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee, is an official Telugu remake of Rajkumar Hirani’s Munna Bhai MBBS, which starred Sanjay Dutt. It came out only a year after Hirani’s film and starred Sonali Bendre, Srikanth, Girish Karnad, and Paresh Rawal. The film received positive reviews from critics and was a huge success at the Indian box office upon its release.

We often see old films re-released on an actor’s birthday, but there is no such occasion here. Perhaps this is why the response to the booking has been so mediocre thus far. The film, which is set to open in select Telugu-speaking states tomorrow, has so far grossed 23 lakh rupees on day one, including the sale of approximately 18,000 tickets.

Though a large sum is not expected, booking for Shankar Dada MBBS has been inadequate thus far. Fans appear to be unwilling to watch re-releases of their favorite stars unless there is a special occasion.

Based on current trends, the day one booking for Shankar Dada MBBS’s re-release is expected to be less than 40 lakhs gross. It will be interesting to see how the film does on the secondary market.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi was most recently seen in Bhola Shankar, a Telugu remake of Ajith Kumar’s Vedalam. When it was released in August of this year, the film received negative reviews from critics, and the audience was uninterested in seeing another remake by the megastar. It bombed miserably at the Indian box office, and its disastrous run ended with a gross of less than 40 crore. Chiru was previously successful with Waltair Veerayya, which also featured Ravi Teja.
