Miss Perfect, a Telugu romantic comedy web series starring Abijeet Duddala and actress Lavanya Tripathi, is currently available to stream on Disney Plus Hotstar. For additional information on the eight-episode series, read our review.

Story:

After a heartbreak, OCD nut Lavanya Rao (Lavanya Tripathi), a management consultant, moves from Delhi to the Shanti Nilayam apartment in Hyderabad. Her maid Jyoti (Abhignya Vuthaluru), who lives in the same apartment building as software engineer Rohit Varma (Abijeet Duddala), asks her to let him know that she won’t be at work during the COVID-19 pandemonium. She is mistaken for the maid by Rohit. Lavanya later appears as Laxmi, the maid. Both start to feel something for one another. What takes place after that? Why did Lavanya keep her identity a secret? Is Rohit aware of her identity? To find out, you’ll have to watch the series on the small screen.

Bonus Points:

Lavanya Tripathi, who made a serious debut in Puli Meka, gives her character a lighthearted spin in this romantic comedy series by playing a person who has a strong taste for cleanliness. Her portrayal effectively displays her acting prowess and is both decent and entertaining.

With a brilliant performance in the crucial role of Rohit, Abijeet Duddala greatly advances the plot. His charisma gives his character a charming element.

Abhignya, who plays a lively maid, brings humor to Miss Perfect with ease, making it a fun film to watch. The supporting cast, including Mahesh Vitta and Harshavardhan, gives good performances.

Negative Points:

Miss Perfect has potential, but it lacks the situational humor that makes a romantic comedy engaging for viewers. The show’s creators, Francis Thomas and Shruti Ramachandran, along with director Vishvak Khanderao, blew a great chance to include more humorous elements. Although the first few episodes do a good job of setting the scene, the later episodes don’t have the desired effect.

There is a sense of unrealized potential because the main characters’ potential for drama and humor is not fully explored in the story.

The climax episodes could have been more engaging to take the series from mediocre to extraordinary, and the subplot involving Harshavardhan and Jhansi hinders the story.

The director also had the opportunity to make greater use of Mahesh Vitta and Harsh Roshan in order to produce more powerful comedic elements.

Technical Details:

As a director, Vishvak Khanderao has performed admirably. But the rom-com series could have been much better if writers Francis Thomas and Shruti Ramachandran had placed more of an emphasis on situational comedy and drama. Still, they should be commended for their dedication to making a clean, family-oriented romantic comedy.

The series benefits greatly from the work of Aditya Javvadi’s camera work and the music of Prashant R Vihari. Although the editing is passable, the mid-episode adjustments could improve the overall viewing experience. The excellent production quality is a credit to the hardworking crew that works behind the scenes.

Conclusion:

The eight-episode rom-com series Miss Perfect isn’t exactly “perfect,” but it does have its share of enjoyable moments. Abijeet, Lavanya Tripathi, and Abhignya give respectable performances. But there are issues with the lack of situational humor, the sporadic sluggish pacing, and the superfluous sub-track. Keep your expectations in check and Miss Perfect is a good weekend watch if you’re looking for a family-friendly series and can get past these drawbacks.
