It has been a thrilling year for the Malayalam film industry in 2024. Manjummel Boys is one such film; it debuted in theaters on February 22, 2024. The film is a survival thriller, directed by Chidambaram, who was also responsible for Jan E Man.
The awful tale of a group of friends who became stuck in Kodaikanal’s Guna caves in 2006 serves as the basis for the film. Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S Poduval, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, and Vishnu Reghu are among the main cast members.
Rights of Manjummel Boys on OTT
The film will eventually be available on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming service after two months. It is still playing in several theaters, nevertheless. The icing on the cake is that the filmmakers received a respectable sum for the OTT rights in addition to the phenomenal box office receipts. The 123 Telugu website said that Manjummel Boys’ OTT rights are sold for a whopping Rs 20 crores. The fact that the movie’s budget is the same is intriguing.
For the Chidambaram-helmed film, which is still raking in massive ticket sales, it’s a significant accomplishment. A recent report states that the survival thriller has made over 235.16 crores in global revenue. The praise for the Malayalam film has not ceased to flow, even after two months. Additionally, the Telugu-dubbed film was released in theaters a month ago. At the box office, even the Telugu version is performing well. In addition, starting May 3, 2024, the film will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, which is the OTT release.
Similar to Manjummel Boys, Premalu, Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life, and the recently released comedy film Aavesham starring Fahadh Faasil have garnered significant attention and fared remarkably well at the box office.
