The action-packed, emotionally charged thriller Guntur Kaaram marked the reunion of Super Star Mahesh Babu and filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas after a 14-year break. Today, the film debuted in theaters all across the world amid great anticipation. To see how it is, read our review.

Story:

After an accident at the age of ten, Vyra Vasundhara (Ramya Krishnan) abandoned her son Veera Venkata Ramana (Mahesh Babu). Her father, Venkata Swamy (Prakash Raj), wants Ramana to sign documents stating he has no relationship to his mother, Vasundhara, in order to secure her easy victory in the next elections after she becomes a minister after 25 years. What happened, how Venkata Ramana handled the situation, if he signed the documents, what Vasundhara did, and whether or not they eventually got back together are all explained in the story as it develops.

Positive Points:

Mahesh Babu enters his much awaited part with ease, displaying his gritty, raw manner that is enhanced by the alluring Guntur dialect. For his devoted fan base, his captivating enthusiasm brings life to every frame, making for an enjoyable experience.

As Mahesh Babu’s grandfather and the minister, Prakash Raj, who is once again superbly cast in Guntur Kaaram, gives a noteworthy performance. The two’s chemistry on screen gives the movie a really deep level.

Ramya Krishnan makes a great impression with her understated yet powerful performance, even with her character’s minimal screen time in a plot that revolves around her.

There are genuine moments of hilarity when Mahesh Babu and Vennela Kishore exchange banter and funny exchanges, while the other members of the cast provide meh performances.

Negative Points:

One of the main weaknesses of the movie is its narrative, as Trivikram failed to write a stronger screenplay and an engaging plot. The weak writing undermines emotionally charged situations and lowers the level of participation overall.

There are too many sequences in Guntur Kaaram with people who don’t really add much to the main story. The film’s flaws are exacerbated by the underuse of gifted performers, such as Meenakshii Chaudhary, Rahul Ravindran, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh, and Jayaram.

The first half starts off well but falters as the half comes to an end. The disappointing second half raises doubts about the necessity for Trivikram to concentrate on writing the storyline and screenplay.

Even though they are adequate, musical compositions fall short of being great. For fans, nevertheless, Mahesh Babu’s dancing scenes with Sreeleela provide a fun distraction.

Technical Details:

Both as a writer and director, Trivikram Srinivas is unable to make a lasting impression. An audience-relevant and more poignant plot would have greatly increased the movie’s allure. Unfortunately, Thaman’s musical contribution isn’t up to par.

The cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa is up to par, but editor Navin Nooli can still do better, especially when it comes to cutting out superfluous scenes. The significant investment made by the producers guarantees the film’s visually stunning presentation.

Conclusion:

Guntur Kaaram, which mostly makes use of Mahesh Babu’s character, accent, and one-liners, manages to be humorous at times. However, some of its shortcomings, like a weak storyline, a sluggish screenplay, and pointless scenes, might keep it from being as well-known as it could. Although Guntur Kaaram would not appeal to every audience segment during Sankranthi, Mahesh Babu devotees might find it entertaining because of the actor’s solo performance in a dynamic and endearing role.
