Story
God Movie Review: Arjun (Jayam Ravi) is a police officer who enforces the law by killing criminals. Andrew (Narain), a close buddy of his, works as a police officer. Meanwhile, Brahma (Rahul Bose), a psychotic killer, murders young ladies to cause chaos. Brahma is caught by Arjun, but Andrew is killed by the psychopath. Arjun quits his position as a police officer to care for Andrew’s family. Brahma escapes from police custody one day, terrifying the populace. What follows is what? Brahma was he apprehended? This is the subject of the movie.
Plus Points
The movie rests on Jayam Ravi’s shoulders since he is too good in the cop part. He does a fantastic job portraying Arjun as aggressive and angry. He conveys exactly what he wants to do via his body language and facial emotions. Jayam Ravi brought his experience to the table because he has performed in roles comparable to this in the past.
In their various roles, Narain, Vijayalakshmi, and Ashish Vidyarthi all do well. In order to make his gorgeous background score as impactful as possible, music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja gave it his all.
Minus Points
Serial killer-themed movies have recently begun to lose their allure as producers stick to the same tried-and-true template for this genre. The list of such movies now includes God as well. Filmmakers need to get over Ratsasan’s hangover as quickly as possible since it has raised the bar for criminal thrillers. It is past time for filmmakers to develop original stories to astonish the audience.
These movies can be divided into two categories. Some directors want to identify the killer right away, while others want to do it at the very end. As long as the proceedings are exciting, there is absolutely no problem with God falling into the first category.
However, God has a boring plot with uninteresting and repeated sequences.
We are not excited by anything since there are no exciting moments. Due to their consistent inability to apprehend the culprit, the police investigation viewpoint is inadequately highlighted. The movie contains a significant twist that introduces us to a new character. Despite a decent actor playing the part, the writing style utterly irritates me.
The most important component of these crime thrillers is the motivation behind the murderers’ actions, yet it hasn’t been shown well.
Nayanthara, a talented actress, doesn’t have much of a role in the movie. The climax is prolonged without cause.
Technical Aspects
Yuvan Shankar Raja, who composed the film’s music, and Hari K. Vedanth, who shot it, both gave it their all. The color scheme and production quality of the movie are both excellent. Editing is passable. Excellent Telugu dubbing was used.
With regard to the director Ahmed, he handled God poorly. He chose a story that follows a template and narrated it in a dull and uninteresting way. Absolutely no suspenseful moments occur, and even the main twist lacks impact.
Final Verdict
Overall, God is a monotonous crime thriller with a tried-and-true plot. The film contains a lot of dull moments and doesn’t provide anything fresh. Both the police investigative angle and the psychopath’s persona are badly developed. The primary twist and another important character are both irritating. In this uninteresting crime thriller, Jayam Ravi stands out for his sincere performance and strong technical standards.
