The dramedy, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, marked Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan’s first collaboration. As a result, box office fans clearly pinned their hopes on this dream pairing. Unfortunately, mixed reviews and word-of-mouth proved to be an impediment, and growth was limited during the Christmas holiday season. Nonetheless, it has proven to be a success.
Dunki’s global box office performance
Dunki earned 141.51 crores net in the first six days (until Tuesday) at the Indian box office. It is worth 166.98 crores in total. Despite a reported budget of 120 crores, the film has already proven to be a success in India. It has also been a success in other countries and is on its way to becoming a blockbuster.
Dunki has grossed 116.15 crores so far internationally. So, after combining the overseas and Indian gross, the total box office collection in 6 days is 283.13 crores. With Wednesday’s update, the film will surpass the 300 crore mark.
Dunki outlives the lifetimes of Bollywood’s biggest stars.
Dunki has surpassed the global lifetime of Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 (265 crores gross) and Race 3 (270.76 crores gross) with the most recent collection update. It also outperformed Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 (275 crores gross).
The film will surpass Mission Mangal (287.18 crores gross), Raees (287.71 crores gross), Housefull 4 (291.08 crores gross), Sooryavanshi (291.14 crores gross), and The Kerala Story (293.15 crores gross) with the day 7 update.
