Tickets for national movie chains and a few other multiplexes are on sale today, on Cinema Lovers’ Day, for a discounted price of just 99 rupees. Consequently, movies that have recently hit theaters are reaping tremendous benefits; one such movie is Article 370.

According to industry rumors, on day one of advance sales, Article 370 sold about 1.21 lakh tickets at national theater chains (PVR INOX & Cinepolis). This figure, which ranks second on the list of Bollywood’s opening day pre-sales in national theater chains in 2024, is unexpected. With 1.45 lakh tickets sold on the first day, Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter is at the top.

It surpasses by more than three times the amount of tickets sold for Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (33K), starring Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor. Additionally, it is higher than notable releases like Drishyam 2 and Laal Singh Chaddha.

Day 1 of Article 370 expectations

Article 370 could have made between 11 and 12 crores a day on any given day based on pre-sales at national theater chains, but this is where the discounted ticket prices come into play. The movie is currently aiming for a start in the range of 5-7 crores on day 1, which is also a very good result, with an average ticket price of 99 rupees in multiplexes. Positive word-of-mouth could raise this figure.
