Plus Points

The plot of the film is brilliant. Writing a screenplay for a film like 12th Fail is difficult because so many films have been made on the same subject. As a result, it is critical that the narrative be highly engaging. Vidhu Vinod Chopra skillfully creates a story that is both entertaining and emotional. He has ensured that the film contains a good number of satisfying moments.

Vikrant Massey is excellent as Manoj Kumar Sharma, and his sincere performance is one of the film’s strongest points. Vikrant Massey effortlessly stepped into the shoes of Manoj’s character and brought his A-game to the film. Biopics like 12th Fail are difficult for actors because the references are limited, and things can go wrong if the performances are poor. But Vikrant Massey holds our attention throughout, and this is a game-changing film for him.

Medha Shankar provides excellent support for Vikrant Massey. It is well demonstrated how the real-life couple stood by each other through thick and thin. The film has a few clap-worthy scenes, but the best part is the final interview scene. Anant Vijay Joshi, Saritha Joshi, Vikas Divyakirti, and Anshuman Pushkar all perform admirably in their roles.

Minus Points

The proceedings in 12th Fail are a little slow at times due to pacing issues. For greater impact, the editing could have been sharper. As with most films in this genre, the predictability factor enters the picture after a certain point.

The first few minutes of the second half were tedious. The conflict between the lead pair could have been depicted more effectively. The film emphasizes the importance of having honest officers in the system, so there are no commercial elements. This may irritate some people. The voiceover was present throughout the film, even in minor details. However, this could have been avoided.

Technical Aspects

Shantanu Moitra’s songs are pretty good, and the Telugu lyrics are especially good. The Telugu dubbing team behind 12th Fail deserves special praise because the film does not have the feel of a dubbed film. Rangarajan Ramabadran’s cinematography effectively transports us into Manoj Kumar Sharma’s world. Editing could have been improved. The production values are impressive.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film’s director, did an excellent job. It’s admirable how he incorporated humor and emotion into this true-life story. However, a few scenes in the second half could have been improved. The director elicited outstanding performances from all of the actors.

Final Verdict

Overall, 12th Fail is a sincere film that tells the story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, an IPS officer who rose to great heights despite many obstacles. The film stays true to its purpose, and the lead actor, Vikrant Massey, is convincing in the role. Medha Shankar also stands out, and her character is well-written. There are several heartwarming moments in 12th Fail. On the other hand, the pacing is slow, and the film becomes predictable at times. If you enjoy true-life inspirational stories, you can see this film this weekend.
