The Rock called Cena a “phony” and undeserving player to be at the top of the WWE during one of their feuds.

Many people believed the hostility between Dwayne Johnson and John Cena was genuine because of how serious the feud was. There were also speculations back then that they had real-life issues with one another. The Rock recently admitted that they had serious issues with one another, which only served to stoke those speculations.

Dwayne Johnson famously spoke up on The Late Show with Jimmy Kimmel about his iconic WWE battle with John Cena. “We had a great rivalry,” he had stated. It’s a fictionalized show set in the realm of professional wrestling, but here’s the thing. Our rivalry was serious, really real. We were really at odds with one another.

Dwayne Johnson did, however, go on to say that their initial rivalry eventually gave way to mutual respect and that they are now close friends.
