Vyooham is a Telugu web series that Annapurna Studios produced and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. See how it’s doing by reading our review.

Story:

As the newly appointed ACP, Michael (Chaitanya Krishna), who lost his unborn child in a hit-and-run, is the target of Arjun Ramachandra (Sai Sushanth Reddy), who assumes leadership of the case. A complicated network of related cases, including the death of his own mother, is revealed to Arjun as he digs deeper into the investigation. And then what happens? Did Arjun succeed in cracking the enigmatic case connected to so many others? These secrets are revealed in the series.

Positive Points:

The series is kept running smoothly by Sai Sushanth Reddy, who gives a passable performance as the Assistant Commissioner of Police.

In the role, Chaitanya Krishna is good, putting on a polished show. Despite having little on screen time, Ravindra Vijay, who plays a complex police officer, excels and makes an impression with his understated acting.

A few episodes are expertly narrated by the director, who creates the necessary tension for a gripping thriller.

Coherent teamwork ensures that well-executed twists and turns keep the audience interested, while the score occasionally adds depth to the story.

Negative Points:

The plot summary suggested a gripping, suspenseful series, but linking multiple cases to a car accident creates ambiguity.

Viewers may occasionally wonder why the story was purposefully dragged in the middle and wonder why it was decided to prolong the series unnecessarily.

One negative is the introduction of a large cast of characters, some of whom don’t really add anything. For example, Monika Thagalapalli’s portrayal of an IAS officer is weak in terms of character development.

Technical Details:

The story writer and director, Sashikanth Srivaishnav Peesapati, had the opportunity to simplify the narration considering the intricacy of multiple stories and characters. Vyooham could have been a more sophisticated suspense thriller with a more tightly written screenplay.

Sriram Maddury makes a valuable contribution to the technical team with his background score. The excellent cinematography of Sidhardha Reddy stands in stark contrast to Sai Murali’s editing, which could have done much more to elevate Vyooham as a series.

Conclusion:

Sai Sushanth Reddy, Chaitanya Krishna, and Ravindra Vijay all give good performances, but overall, Vyooham is a disappointing thriller. The intricacy of the narrative, its superfluous length, and its undeveloped characters.
