The Great Indian Suicide Story:
An orphan named Hemanth (Ram Karthik) co-owns a coffee business with a friend. He falls in love with Chaitra (Hebah Patel), a cookie supplier for his company. Hemanth makes a suggestion, but Chaitra first rejects it. In order to escape his memories of Chaitra, Hemanth makes the decision to leave the city.
Due to her impending death in a few days, Chaitra claims she is unable to wed Hemanth. She then informs Hemanth that her family is all killing themselves. Why did Chaitra’s family decide to do something so shocking? What followed for Hemanth? This plays a role in the narrative.
The Great Indian Suicide Plus Points:
The movie explores the idea of mass suicide/cult suicide, which has been the subject of a few previous films. Without a doubt, Burari Deaths served as an inspiration for The Great Indian Suicide, but this time the approach is different. A family wants to kill everyone in order for one of their deceased relatives to come back to life. The main character falls in love with the family member who plays the female lead.
You’re in for a few surprises if you think the movie is only about the idea of mass suicide. Unexpected developments have been coming at you nonstop for the past 30 minutes. At the same time, they are startling and unsettling. At the conclusion, the filmmaker addressed a few difficulties and made an effort to connect them to the main idea, which is commendable.
Hebah Patel excels in her part and gives a flawless performance. In his role as the one attempting to solve the mystery, Ram Karthik performed a good job. In their different parts, Naresh, Pavitra Lokesh, Ratna Shekar Reddy, and Deborah Doris all performed admirably.
The Great Indian Suicide Minus Points:
The pacing needs to be extremely quick for films like The Great Indian Suicide in order for the effect to be strong. But for a small period in the middle of the movie, the pace slows down, and things start to drag. Scenes that ought to have been more exciting were delivered in a cliched way.
The movie also has a couple of sequences that should have been fully avoided but weren’t. They occupy a substantial portion of the screen time. The manufacturers might have focused more on the detailing aspect instead. Given that Jayaprakash’s persona disappears after a time, his part should have been better defined.
There was more potential for horror themes, but it was unexpected that the creators eventually neglected that part.
Technical Details:
The melodies are passable, while Sri Charan Pakala’s background score is effective. Nag is excellent. Although the editing may use some improvements, the production qualities are respectable.
Regarding the filmmaker, Viplove Koneti, he made a commendable effort to tackle a few societal concerns with the movie while also deciding on a highly unique premise. For a topic like this, the screenplay ought to have been flawless, but the effect was diminished by the sluggish tempo and the inclusion of a few sequences.
Verdict:
The Great Indian Suicide offers an intriguing notion overall, but the movie isn’t totally compelling. The film’s last thirty minutes are loaded with several turns that are hard to predict.
