The filmmakers were inspired by the book Telgi Scam: Reporter’s Ki Diary. Gagan Dev Riar played Abdul Karim Telgi, the con artist. The new season has arrived on Sony LIV, and Let’s see how it is

Director:

 Tushar Hiranandani

 Stanley Mudda

Music Director:

Story:

Gagan Dev Riar’s character Abdul Karim Telgi gains notoriety after lavishing a significant amount of money on a bar dancer. The incident demonstrates to everyone the extent of Telgi’s wealth. Helping Telgi, politicians and police officers begin to demand ever-higher amounts of money to keep him safe. Although Telgi consents to it, he is unaware that they are using him as a scapegoat. When a well-known Karnataka celebrity is abducted, the kidnappers demand a one-time payment from the government. Abdul set up the funding at the government’s request. However, a handful of truthful cops end up being a pain in Telgi’s neck.

Plus points

Although the Harshad Mehta Scam is more well-known than the stamp paper scam, the makers have investigated the vast potential of the subject matter. The second volume shows Abdul Telgi’s fall from grace, while the first volume shows how he established his empire. It does a good job of illustrating how some police officers and politicians attempted to use Telgi as a scapegoat.

Volume 2 focuses more on Telgi’s family and personal life. In the first season, the emotions weren’t all that strong, but in this case, they were effective. The scenes with Gagan Dev Riar and Sana Aman Sheikh in particular turned out well. In a poignant exchange, Sana Aman Sheikh’s character notes that it is extremely true that criminals are unintentionally harming their families.

The first three episodes had a good amount of interest. Regarding acting, Gagan Dev Riar has once again excelled with a powerful yet nuanced performance. Unquestionably the core of Scam 2003, Gagan excels in the poignant moments. Following Gagan, Mukesh Tiwari draws attention with a strong performance. In her part, Sana Aman Sheikh is suitable.

Minus Points

There is no doubt that the team worked extremely hard on the research. However, there is some ambiguity in terms of a few developments. A few events are difficult to follow, and as a result, the show can become confusing at times.

After a strong start, the pacing slows in the final two episodes. They are also dragged slightly. Dinesh Lal Yadav, a well-known Bhojpuri actor, appears in this second season. Though he performs well, his character isn’t well-etched. The ending falls flat.

Technical Aspects:

Ishaan Chhabra’s music is good. Stanley did an excellent job as a cinematographer. The jail sets were well-designed. The editing in the last few episodes could have been better. The production values are excellent.

Volume 2 was directed by Tushar Hiranandani, who did a good job. The finale lacked the intended impact, even though the first three episodes were compelling. However, the creators deserve credit for creating a show about a subject that is little known to the general public.

Verdict:

Scam 2003 Volume 2 begins well but ends poorly. The good storyline is nicely complemented by Gagan Dev Riar’s strong performance. However, there are a few sections that cause minor confusion and could have been handled better. Though the show isn’t great, it’s worth watching for its powerful subject and interesting moments.
