Throughout the first week of this year, a number of low-budget films starring newcomers were released. One such film that just hit theaters is Prema Katha. For an assessment of the film, read our review.

Story:

To support his family in the face of growing financial hardship, Prem (Kishore Santhi Dinakaran) works at a steel plant. Diya Seetepalli steals the heart of Prem’s coworker. While assisting his colleague in his romantic affairs, Prem develops an instant romantic attraction to Diya. Does Prem manage to win Diya over to his way? To find out the rest of the tale, you’ll need to see the film on a large screen.

Bonus Points:

Each of the main actors gave respectable performances. Kishore, a young actor, played the part in a logical and organic way. Diya’s stunning appearance helps her capture the hearts of the viewers. Neha and Vinay Mahadev, who portrayed Prem and Diya’s friends, were also respectable. Raj Tirandasu, a well-known Pushpa, portrays his character well. The remaining supporting actors delivered outstanding performances as well. The well-known composer Radhan’s soundtrack is passable.

Negative Points:

The writer-director was unable to tell the story of the film in a way that made sense and was captivating after deciding on a typical love tale. Despite being about two hours and ten minutes long, the film is an endless, dull saga with a number of illogical scenes because of its poor storyline. The primary leads’ on-screen chemistry falls short of conjuring the emotion that is necessary for love stories.

Given that Prema Katha is a love story as the title implies audiences would naturally anticipate an uplifting and sentimental love story. But there are a lot of pointless scenes in the script that fail to elicit the necessary emotion. The comedic sequences don’t make you laugh.

Technical Details:

The producers’ production values and Radhan’s songs and background score are both good. But there is a lot that is lacking in the editing and cinematography. There are some powerful exchanges that give the proceedings depth.

Shivashakti Red De, the director, lets us down with his lackluster writing and directing. He picked a typical story, but his boring and uninspired narration left the audience unimpressed.

Conclusion:

Prema Katha, as a whole, features a lot of scenes that don’t really grab viewers’ attention. The story has been extended past its breaking point. The movie has a number of nonsensical and boring scenes that try the patience of viewers. Prema Katha is for your own risk to watch.
