Pawan Kalyan draws a comparison between Tholi Prema’s triumph and his political victory: “I haven’t experienced victory in years”

Following the Janasena Party’s victory in all 21 seats it contested, actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan addressed his triumph in his first speech.

The Janasena Party (JSP), led by actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, won each of the 21 seats it ran for in the Andhra Pradesh elections. During a speech in Pithapuram, where he was elected to the Assembly, Pawan equated his first political win to his first acting role.

“No one ever informed me that I had won.”

For those who don’t know, Pawan made his screen debut in Tollywood with the 1996 movie Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. But he didn’t have great popularity until the 1998 movie Tholi Prema.

“I haven’t known victory for years now,” Pawan remarked in Pithapuram following the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janasena Party (JSP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance’s victory in the AP elections. In 2019, I lost the election, and even though I made a lot of movies, nobody ever informed me I won. I’ve had several problems and been called names. Even now, until my party won every seat it ran for, I had no idea how successful I was. I saw a Tholi Prema triumph only once, many years ago, while I was an actor.

“Pawan freely chose to enter politics”

Chiranjeevi made a video statement before the May AP elections, explaining that his brother decided to enter politics instead of pursuing an acting career.

“He (Pawan) entered politics out of free will, but he was forced to come to films years ago,” Chiranjeevi remarked. As a family, we are hurt when he is targeted, but I explained to our mother that she must make this sacrifice to support other mothers. He deserves to be heard since he has never been one to remain composed in the face of injustice. Despite being the lastborn in our family, he has always put others’ needs before his own.

The outcome of his next movies

In his filmography, Pawan has three unfinished and unreleased films. He possesses Ustaad Bhagat Singh by Harish Shankar, Hari Hara Veera Mallu by Krish and Jyothi Krishna, and They Call Him OG by Sujeeth. September 27 is when OG is supposed to be released. For the past few months, Pawan has only been focused on politics; now that he is an MLA, it is unclear if he will finish filming his next project before turning his attention to politics.
