Kristen Stewart criticizes Hollywood for their phony support for female filmmakers, mentioning Margot Robbie and says, “You’ve Chosen Four”

She also compared current gender discrimination to previous cases and determined that it is more passive-aggressive.

Kristen Stewart rose to fame and recognition as Bella Swan in the Twilight franchise. The actress is known for her outspoken nature and strong opinions. She recently revealed that Hollywood does the bare minimum to encourage female directors, except Maggie Gyllenhaal and Margot Robbie. Scroll down to find out.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal and a well-known director and actress.

Margot’s career rose dramatically after appearing in Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie. Robbie’s film performed incredibly well at the box office last year.

According to Kristen Stewart, who spoke with Porter magazine, Hollywood only does the barest minimum to promote female directors, except four people. Stewart stated: “[There’s a] thinking that we can check these little boxes, and then do away with the patriarchy, and how we’re all made of it.”

“They can say things like, ‘Look what we’re doing,’ with ease. We’re producing Maggie Gyllenhaal’s film! We are making Margot Robbie’s film! And you go, “OK, cool.” “You’ve selected four.” Kristen Stewart added, “And I’m in awe of those women; I love those women, but it feels phony.” If we congratulate each other for widening our perspectives when we haven’t truly done enough, we stop broadening.”

Kristen Stewart’s comments could be related to her difficulty in funding The Chronology of Water, with which she has been involved since 2018 and has been vocal. She also contrasted present gender discrimination to the past and determined that it is more passive-aggressive now, whereas it was more direct previously.

Kristen stated regarding her financial difficulties, “It’s kind of a self-conscious thing to talk about because it’s hard to get anything made.” She explained that her film The Chronology of Water is about incest, menstruation, and a woman who brutally reclaims her voice and body.

Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun star in Love Me this year.
