Heeramandi Actress Richa Chadha’s Shocking Revelation on Working With Toxic Female Co-Actors “Constantly Competing, Not Giving The Right Cues…”

In an interview, Richa Chadha explained how challenging it has been to work with some of her female co-stars.

Richa Chadha recently underwent a dramatic change as Lajjo for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. Though her character arc was brief in the web series, she has received appreciation for her performance. She went from playing mobster Bholi Punjaban in Fukrey 3 to a tawaif in Heeramandi, a complete 180.

Recently, in an interview, the actress discussed working with female co-stars and how not all women are supportive of one another. The issue began when a photo of Dia Mirza rooting for Richa surfaced following a gathering.

In an interview with News 18, Richa discussed how not all women are supportive, and she also suggested that she has worked with some bad female co-stars. So the notion that women cannot be vile is wrong.

Talking about her experiences on set, the actress added, “I’ve also had toxic co-actors who were always competing with me by not giving the appropriate signals and turning off the lights during scenes. I can’t claim I’ve had a consistent, monolithic experience. Sisterhood does exist, and it is real when you create, cultivate, and nurture it. But it takes more than one person to comprehend and create that.

Richa even spoke out against her payments not being cleared by female producers, saying, “I don’t think I subscribe to the notion that all women are saints.” I’ve had some bad encounters with female producers whose checks bounced, and they claim to be feminists on Twitter (now X).

The actress went on to say, “I know lots of patriarchal and misogynistic women, as well as feminist guys. “It’s not a gender thing.” Richa Chadha, drawing on her own experiences, stated unequivocally that it is foolish to believe that women cannot be evil.

For those unfamiliar, Heeramandi stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Richa Chadha. The web series, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is currently airing on Netflix.

Richa will become a mommy soon. The actress is married to her Fukrey co-star, Ali Fazal.
