  • The Proposal: Several students with high exam spirit come to Lynn and request her to provide them with ideas on how to cheat during the following exams. Review:

Bad Genius has been well received by the critique. Critics have acknowledged its wonderful plot, the movie’s fast tempo, and fine acting but have pointed out that some parts of the series leave much to be desired when it comes to characters.

Positives:

  • Engaging Plot: It is necessary to admit that the film is very interesting and leads viewers through all its time with the help of suspense and drama elements. The plot’s exquisite fancy increases the complexity of the given story.
  • Strong Performances: Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying showcases the inconsistency and emotional problems of her character Lynn to the best. Others also gave very good performances that helped in telling the story.
  • Cinematic Quality: The directing and camera work does a marvelous job of making the viewer feel they are in Lynn’s headspace while simultaneously illustrating the stress the student goes through.

Negatives:

  • Character Development: Though Lynn has been characterized strongly the supporting characters are not fully explored to emotionally appeal to the audiences. As is the case with most people, their reasons may seem unclear or not fully developed.
  • Pacing Issues: Several commentators mentioned that some phases of gameplay appeared monotonous, and thus could not evoke participants’ interest.
  • Predictable Elements: However, as it is captivating, the action may look familiar to viewers who savor academic thrillers in terms of predictability.

Technical Aspects:

Bad Genius is about one hundred and ten minutes long which provides enough time for audience identification with characters and message identification.

  • Cinematography: The work of cinematographer Rungthip Srisang gives an expression of the joviality of the university and the pressure associated with it. Cinematography work makes the action scenes more aesthetic and you feel close and personal during those intimate scenes.
  • Direction: ‘Suspense’ is a great defining feature of Nattawut Poonpiriya as a director who was also capable of telling an emotional story. He does this effectively to keep tension throughout yet gives viewers ways to feel a very close connection with Lynn’s story.
  • Editing: While doing the editing, the director succeeds in sustaining an even speed but he stumbles in some instances in scene changes. It appears that some scenes should be better connected because the leading characters often switch from one focusing action to another all of a sudden.

Performance:

  • The actress playing Lynn is Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying: Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying gives life to the role of Lynn in the movie. She is good at playing her roles smart and weak at the same time as she tries to deal with issues such as ambition, and an evil conscience. The inclusion of low pitches, intensity, and a sense of persecution gives more feeling to Lynn’s character in the whole movie.
  • Supporting Cast: There are strong performances throughout boosting the overall feel of the film that is not without some secondary characters that aren’t fully fleshed out for maximum audience appeal.
  • Additional Characters: Some classmates like Thiti Mahayotaruk and others add depth to the lies persona of Lynn but some of these classifications need more elaborate background or evolution to improve the roles they portray in the story.

Moviepoptime Review:

Even this version can’t compare with the original but the story looks interesting.. not boring, and not bad.. like I can see how to cheat exams in the American version.. not many American movies doing kind of this movie much. So it’s like a fresh thing to see… and the movie shows real-life American people that people in the world always see American people as rich or have money nice jobs blah blah but this movie shows poor life, rich life so good and that Actress who plays in played this movie so so good. I want to see her in the next movie again.

Conclusion:

Together with an intriguing theme of ambition and the moral of the story woven into an interesting plot accompanied by tense elements and well-presented emotions, Bad Genius proves itself as a standout film. Due to its rather significant performances as well as versatile narrative, it sheds sufficient light on the related aspects of cheating and at the same time does not leave the audience bored during its show.

As with most academic thrillers, it can sometimes feel that its pacing might be somewhat ropey and the plot might be somewhat all too predictable, and yet, its strengths clearly lie in the realistic portrayal of inner conflicts combined with relevant societal themes. It recounts simple entertainment in society and at the same time gives a discourse on some of the issues that current students encounter in a competitive learning environment.

In general, the film does give enough of what it promises to its target audience of lovers of thrillers that focus on the characters rather than actions and tell the stories that turn conventional tropes on their heads. Its availability on streaming makes it palatable for the audience who is yearning for content that will make them think about the pressure in education in today’s society. Nevertheless, following Lynn’s journey through the sphere of deception and self-realization, spectators are asked to contemplate more fundamental questions concerning the ethicality of striving for success in the world becoming more and more corporate and competitive – hence the viewers get more than a straightforward commentary on academic dishonesty.
