Story:

Vettaiyan is about a Superintendent of police, Athiyan (Rajinikanth) posted in Kanyakumari.? A further complication in the story takes a twist when Athiyan accidentally shoots an innocent during a police shootout connected to the murder of a school teacher that he knows to be Sharanya (Dushara Vijayan). When he comes to terms with the reality of what he has done Athiyan starts a roller-coaster ride to find out how and why Sharanya was killed and the internal problems inside the police departments. The story is partially based on actual events, which gives a realistic background to otherwise rather theatrical encounters.

Review:

Claims on feedback are still coming in; some highlight the display of Rajinikanth and others condemn the movie’s flow and strongly estimate.

Plus Points:

  • Star Power: A powerful star like Rajinikanth who lends himself naturally in this character pulls off Athiyan with a stunning display of his charm and firepower.
  • Strong Supporting Cast: Amitabh Bachchan helps the film with his portrayal of Judge Satyadev with Rana Daggubati and Fahadh Faasil putting up strong credible performances.
  • Action Sequences: There is a clear and efficient sequence of actions and washy and fluent motion scenes that draw people in.
  • Cinematography and Music: Action sequences are done well and emotional scenes are also well shot and directed although the cinematography is done by S.R. Kathir. Anirudh Ravichander’s background score ironically adds to an even higher pitch of the film.

Minus Points:

  • Pacing Issues: The climax, the action you were expecting to kick in as the second half starts, tends to be slow though it gains momentum once in a while.
  • Predictable Plot Twists: Some moments are rather stereotyped and other, passionate feelings are not sufficient to keep the interest.
  • Character Development: The aforementioned main characters show symptoms of a fully developed personality, but several supporting characters lack both the needed screen time and portrayal depth.

Technical Aspects:

The technical execution of Vettaiyan is commendable:

  • Cinematography: S.R. Kathir directs action sequences as well as dramatic moments too with seeming ease.
  • Editing: These are the general comments about editing, Philomin Raj has done the job quite well, however, the second half could do with some faster cuts.
  • Production Values: The movie has been produced by Lyca Productions and this fact has boosted the production standards largely which makes a film alluring for viewers.

Performances:

The film leans heavily on current poster boy Rajinikanth through a performance their fans will appreciate. He looks cool when portraying Athiyan, but also performs intense scenes very well. Amitabh Bachchan in the end, gives the judiciary a solid representation as Judge Satyadev provides quite an antithesis to the other. Dushara Vijayan as Sharanya looks and dances well bringing tragedy to her character that makes her journey memorable. Even in small roles Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati don’t disappoint and give a clinching performance.

MoviePopTime Review:

After waiting for a long for the Vettaiyan, I wanted to see a movie on October 10, 2024. The excitement in the theater was palpable, with fans buzzing about the collaboration between two titans of Indian cinema: Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, above. When the lights went out and the movie started I was ready for a great time and the up-and-coming movie.

Conclusion:

Therefore Vettaiyan can be considered as a film that has elements of both – stunts and social messages galore. Rajinikanth’s stardom is well portrayed there is a fine supporting cast, but the narration is tediously slow and the plot clichéd. Lovers of Rajinikanth might be entertained by this film a lot; otherwise, others who like the plot well-knit might feel something left out by the time the movie is done. It is a good movie to watch for the emotion it evokes mainly laughter and needed social commentary but should be watched with lowered expectations of how the movie was put together.

Altogether it is quite clear that Vettaiyan is an experimental venture with an aim to deal with some themes and at the same time provide the main course of commercial faction that an auto drive Rajinikanth starer must offer. Its performance at the box office is thereby sure to. Connect with the entertainment standards and the message received by the people.
