Story:
The narrative unfolds in two timelines: These time frames that were 1964 and 1984. The film’s protagonist, Lieutenant Ram, played by Dulquer Salmaan, is an orphaned soldier who falls in love with a woman named Sita Mahalakshmi essayed by Mrunal Thakur based on a letter received from her. Their relationship with each other grows passionately as they make love amidst the turbulence of war and conflict which makes their love life full of hardship because of society and family pressure.
In 1984 Afreen (Rashmika Mandanna) a student now studying in London has to come back to India to post a letter to her grandpa as he wished her to. Thus the story begins and it tells of Rana and Sita’s love, a love that has been clouded by miscommunication and time.
The motion picture addresses love beyond borders, the conflict of wars on relationships and an individual search for his identity. It shows how the characters deal with their emotions and expectations from their society towards them, and gives a happy ending which is the triumph of love in the end.
Review:
The performances, the story-telling technique, and even the technical precision of Sita Ramam have been appreciated well. Audiences and critics have commended the movie as tender and profound, especially given its capacity to treat multiple abstract issues within the framework of a romance hall.
Plus Points:
- Engaging Storyline: The combination of past and present overlay and the use of love-interest together with war-interest make the movie interesting to watch. Since the emotions are realistic, the audience can easily relate to them and therefore make the story moving.
- Strong Performances: The lead actor Dulquer Salmaan has done a tremendous job in portraying the character of Ram, he has also looked more vulnerable as well as strong. Mrunal Thakur comes out with a good performance in the movie and grabs the attention of the audience till the very end by portraying the troubles of a Sita character. Rashmika Mandanna makes a very desirable Afreen, the girl in the process of transformation, a journey which is depicted quite nicely.
- Cinematography: The film’s art direction especially the cinematography done by P. S Vinod is excellent showing beautiful sceneries of Kashmir and the expressions of the actors. The visuals are supportive of the narration, they make the audience feel the movie’s world.
- Music and Background Score: Another advantage that Homamous can boast of is the music composed by Vishal Chandrashekhar which contributes to the creation of strong and deep emotions. Many scenes are aided and supported by the songs where they fit perfectly to the scenes they accompany the overall mood.
- Direction: The director Hanu Raghavapudi has done a good job because he has handled both the romantic track as well as the dramatic part of the movie. This ability makes the movie more powerful and the emotions which are cast by him are very realistic.
Minus Points:
- Length: The duration of the film is 2 hours and 43 minutes and can be overly long for some of the watchers. Some scenes could have been shot in a more compact way to keep the pace intact, especially towards the last part of the film.
- Predictable Plot Points: As entertaining as the film is, some reviewers pointed out that some of the characters’ arcs and/or plot points seem somewhat predictable and did not contain the twist that could and probably should have been introduced to make the story more interesting.
- Character Development: On the strong character development of the main characters, there are some suggestions that the side characters could have used some more development which certainly would have served the overall plot.
- Pacing Issues: Well, this applies to flexibility in filmmaking because some scenes in the film appear to be rushed while in other parts it is as if time is stretched out. This inconsistency can affect the overall flow of the narrative as one would expect especially in stories being told in first person.
Technical Aspects:
Sita Ramam stands out to be a very technically driven film with high investments made to give the film the desired look. The production of the film was carried out at a great cost and this enabled it to capture the best set designs and quality of visual effects.
- Cinematography: The cinematography is also great mostly with the view of the desert and the close-up camera work every time the leads express their affection towards one another. Each of the scenes that P. S. Vinod captures creates an appropriate mood that is characteristic of the detective genre and atmosphere of the film.
- Editing: Unfortunately, some scenes could have been better placed to make the experience of viewing the movie a lot more fascinating which is apparent with the editing done by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.
- Production Design: The period of the 1960s and 1980s has been depicted in the movie and the manner of dressing and the settings portray the social class of the characters.
Performance:
In this regard, the investors found the performance of Dulquer Salmaan in the role of Ram as an essential aspect of the film. His talent to act on different emotions starting from despair to great anger brings the emotions closer to the viewers. Actress Mrunal Thakur does very well to portray the inner turmoil of Sita and how she comes out of it.
Afreen being played by Rashmika Mandanna is a versatile role that is depicted through her character progression throughout the film. The presence of the supporting cast including Tharun Bhascker and others brings much strength to the story and thus the film.
MoviePopTime Review:
Sita Ramam is an exemplary love saga that enchanted me with the looks and felt of the performances. Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur played the leading pair and both portrayed a love angle that was quite lovable and realistic.
The efficient structure, which connects past and present stages of the heroes’ lives, narrates the subtle love and humanity stories against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan conflict. Action was slow in the beginning up to middle part but in the second half, it greatly increased and built up to a heart-touching scene.
The cinematography work is excellent especially when it comes to the beautiful sceneries, Vishal Chandrasekhar’s songs are beautiful and add to the feel of the movie, especially during emotional episodes. All in all, Sita Ramam is an emotionally appealing film that seeks to provide valuable insight into the idea of love, which has no limitations, thus making it an excellent movie to watch for anyone who has an interest in watching romantic movies.
Conclusion:
It is nice to see that Sita Ramam is a well-made movie that has the elements of romance, and drama and at the same time, it provides the historical background where the story is set. The film made under the direction of Hanu Raghavapudi, has a unique storyline, which adds more value to the movie and features has become one of the sensation movies in the present Indian film industry.
However, one can pinpoint some defects in the movie, for example, the problems concerning its speed and the rather obvious plot that can be easily predicted, this movie is worth watching. It is art dear for its emotional intensity, bone-shivering acting and elaborate directing making it a must-see for any movie aficionado.
This has made a big impact on the audience, thus making this film a strong hallmark of romance films. In general, Sita Ramam imprints itself on the viewer, making them recall the value of loving and the need for contact in a time when the world seems to be so divided between nations and eras.
