Suriya and Jyothika are one of the most popular couples in India’s film industry. Both have repeatedly lauded each other for being the ideal companion.
Suriya and Jyothika’s relationship has not always been pleasant. Their relationship has encountered numerous hurdles, ranging from their initial courtship to Suriya’s father Sivakumar’s initial opposition, and their eventual marriage in 2003. Despite these hurdles, they have remained together through thick and thin.
First meeting
Suriya and Jyothika met on the shooting of the Tamil film Poovellam Kettuppar in 1999. Suriya had previously appeared in a few films by that point, and it was one of Jyothika’s first Tamil movies. Jyothika, originally from Mumbai, spoke Hindi and found it difficult to learn Tamil. Suriya was crucial in getting her familiar with the language.
How their love blossomed
Suriya was pleased by Jyothika’s attempts to learn Tamil, and they gradually developed a love for one another. Successful careers for both actors were maintained. They collaborated on Gautham Vasudev Menon’s film Kaakha Kaakha in 2003. It is thought that their relationship began during the making of this picture.
Following Kaakha Kaakha, the couple appeared together in several other films, including Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Perazhagan, and Maayavi.
Marriage and Challenges
Suriya and Jyothika’s relationship, while beautiful, encountered difficulties owing to external forces. Suriya’s father, Sivakumar, initially objected to their marriage due to religious concerns. He ultimately gave his approval.
Family Life
The couple has two children, a daughter and a son named Diya and Dev, respectively. Due to tensions between Suriya’s father, Jyothika recently relocated to Mumbai with their children to offer a healthy environment for their upbringing. Despite this, Suriya and Jyothika remain dedicated to each other, making public appearances together.
Suriya and Jyothika married on September 11, 2006, in Chennai in front of a large number of celebrities.
