Story:

This is the story of a one-man astronaut, Jakub Procházka who, usually played by Adam Sandler goes on a special mission to Chopra Cloud that is present on Jupiter. Together with feelings of loneliness, he struggles with problems in his marriage to Lenka (Carey Mulligan) whom he barely communicates with. Having received no reply from Earth for months, Jakub meets Hanuš, a lonely old god who then follows him around as his new friend. Lenka’s actions make Jakub confront his sinfulness especially his treatment of her and he tries to find out why he has remained alone.

In a sci-fi and internal conflict drama, the audience follows Jakub and his spacecraft in space, while mapping his internal world.

Review:

Essentially, the song has been described in so many words by different people, though some of these people had something nice to write about it. Some people said that the movie is ambitious and includes a good performance by Sandler others complained of slow motion and bad character development. The self-reflection might go well with the fans of character dramas but the sci-fi action lovers might find it fulfilling enough here.

Positives:

  • Strong Performances: The film also sees Sandler coming closest to serious acting and the inherent ability to portray intense feelings as Jakub. Carey Mulligan also doing a great job as a Lenka she is so natural.
  • Unique Concept: They turned the familiar theme of a stranded astronaut coping with his inner Issues in the space setting into an advantage since that allowed the exploration of the concept.
  • Emotional Depth: His characters express loneliness and remorse, which is so dear and understandable to the audience who likes stardom.
  • Voice Work: Interesting additions also include the role of a deaf-mute man Hanuš played by Paul Dano smiling at Jakub, making jokes to him and making him happy.

Negatives:

  • Pacing Issues: Some specialists complained about the slow tempo of the film, however, it is truly applicable only to the first part of the picture, as the scenes seem sometimes too prolonged or, on the contrary, too close to each other.
  • Predictable Plot Points: It is also worth stating, that at least some of the viewers may find some of the stories’ advancement to be rather boring and predictable.
  • Underdeveloped Supporting Characters: Jakub as well as Lenka are vivid and the evolution of their character is fully and persuasively depicted, at the same time, some other characters do not seem to be as developed and could be further examined.

Technical Aspects:

  • Direction: Johan Renck who is directing the show does a nice job of making it not entirely self-reflexive, although this rears its ugly head when they allow the show to get a little too metaphysical at times.
  • Cinematography: This is true to a great extent especially when compared to some of the other sci-fi movies, it depicts the coldness or spaciness of space very well.
  • Editing: As to this, the editing must have been better off in this aspect to facilitate the oiling of the rhythm and to make sure that the audience ain’t dozing off, especially during the yawn-inducing scene.

Performance:

I don’t believe that there’s any other actor that could be better cast to play Jakub Procházka than Adam Sandler and I think he does a great job of portraying his emotional turmoil. Other movie performers, not distinguished by the image of the play, also give much power and portrayal that can, however, be discussed only as superficial, taking into consideration the amount of screen time they work in the movie, such as Carey Mulligan does in the role of Lenka. Paul Dano’s voice as Hanuš is quite charming; however, the kind of character was an additional layer of philosophical contemplation for the movie’s core.

Moviepoptime Review:

Indeed this is a wonderful film; it is an opportunity again for this talented actor Adam Sandler to perform. This is one of the most beautiful sad dramas where a man is floating in space, looking for something and he finds a giant space spider camouflaged on his spaceship. Bravo to the entire cast they are all at their best.

It is debatable as to whether this is a real hallucination caused by his seclusion. Paul Dano is as good as the cosmic spider; aloof, yet curious and very caring at the same time. The five fellow cinematic arrangements look quite enigmatic and mischievously insurgent. If you are looking for an interesting, emotional and beautiful sci-fi movie like Moon or Interstellar this movie is for you.

Conclusion:

The movie ‘Spaceman’ is one of the most audacious and truly epic space, sci-fi dramas that purports to tell the message of alienation and the search for the self through an astronaut. To those who might think it is slow-moving and rigid sometimes they will be able to watch a good movie with good performances by Adam Sandler and Carey Mulligan. Characters in ‘Spaceman’ together with the setting, provide a rather peculiar foundation for a game, then cast the player into thinking about the actions and steps taken from the perspective of the grand scheme of things.
