Review:

Alienoid: Return to the Future is an interesting sequel that fast-forward from the end scene of the first movie. The borderline ridiculous sci-fi and fantasy sequel fantasy-comedy we’ve come to expect from director Choi Dong-hoon proves once again to be a visually spectacular movie that is often laugh-out-loud funny.

The plot lines may be a little tangled up at certain times, but it does not nearly make you dizzy because of its fast-paced and likeable characters. The girls also factor in and shift some of the events completely, so before you know what is up, it is advisable to just expect the unexpected since that is the name of the game.

Overall, “Alienoid: For those viewers who have watched the O.G series and those who have not, watching “Return to the Future” is purely fun. Even if this one is not as well structured as the first part of the movie, it sure makes for a lot of fun.

Positives:

  • Visual Spectacle: It is most notable for the excellent stunning effects, stunning colour tints, and lovely conceptions to consider a good picture.
  • Engaging Characters: The main characters are rather individual and quite easy to differentiate; all of them have some skills that develop the motion picture’s storyline and add humour to the picture.
  • Humour and Action Balance: ‘Return to the Future’ humour is provided to complement the action which keeps the audience on the alert.

Negatives:

  • Complex Plot: The continuities could get rolled into one if the story summaries vary; thus it becomes very difficult for a viewer to follow a sequel if they have not seen the first movie.
  • Pacing Issues: Several critics complained about the mechanical movement of the movie at times with slow motion at the start of the film and at some parts in the movie the motion slows down and there are concepts in the film.
  • Character Development: Although these protagonists are entertaining there are some companies where appointed personalities can only be regarded as shallow and it is quite irritating to see such small character development.

Technical Aspects:

  • Direction: Choi Dong-hoon demonstrates a good imagination, proving what is more important has been successfully experimented with various genres while preserving the comedic feeling throughout the movie.
  • Cinematography: Visually, the film is rather imaginative, especially where extended by cinematography, and some smooth movements that punctuate the action scenes.
  • Sound Design: The movie has amazing energetic music which is good for action and those scenes that depict the sentiment part of the movie are also perfect for it.

Performances:

Kim Tae-ri does a good job when playing Ean; she fits perfectly into the latter’s determination and change of character. Ryu Jun-yeol gets the role of Muruk and because of the spot-on portrayal, the movie gets to have a dose of much-needed comedy as well as a layer to the plot. Kim Woo-bin, the top movie actor, and Lee Hanee the supporting actors of the film were an interesting touch and pace for the movie.

Moviepoptime Review:

I almost immediately became a fan of Alienoid Season 1 but Season 2 was the grander performance for me. They were great and for the duration of the movie, I couldn’t even blink as I watched the screen. I was jumping and giggling from excessive joy, I was watching comedy and rolling on the floor OH MY GOSH, I was blushing throughout the romantic scenes. Wow, this movie was full of everything out there. I followed the plot and was impressed with how basic it was, though I got a front-seat summary of what the movie was all about when the movie started. Everyone was good at delivering their lines and doing the acting correctly. KUDOS! AMAZING!

Conclusion:

Alienoid: Return to the Future This is an exciting and rather humorous sequel, to be qualified as an entertainment mix of action and fantasy, subtitled “Return to the Future”. For viewers, who would shrug at its plot problems and slow tempo, the movie offers a bright and peculiar visual picture, and charismatic leading characters with great and bright-witted sense of humour.

Developed specifically for the streamer, it is aimed at fans of the first “Alienoid,” who would be happy to see the film as a pleasant continuation of space fantasia full of interesting turns and cinematic flip-flops. Thus, it is a stereotypically funny and silly film that does not try to explain the strangeness of what is happening and desires the viewer to be accepting of it.
