The first one starts in 1979 when a man with his wife were set on fire by a group of villagers who accused them of witchcraft. The moment they pass on, they pronounce a curse that the village should be covered with death before the next Pushkaram festival could occur. Fast forward to the year 1991, Surya(Sai Dharam Tej) moves to his mother’s village, Rudravanam to take over his business when a spate of murders begins.

He then takes a girl named Nandini who is the daughter of the sarpanch with them to show her all the real motives behind such sort of murders and how they would fix all that needs to be fixed. On the efficacy of their work, they are also affected by one superstition or the other, concerning the matter of mystery. One can define that the motifs of horror are used in the film and the films show prejudices and phobias of society.

Review:

The positive aspect of ‘Virupaksha’ is that it takes traditional horror and constructs a decent story from it which turns out decent. Prejudice and superstition as depicted and investigated in the picture enrich the movie. Despite its good environment and thrills some issues with the speed of the game and cliches might be an issue here.

Positives:

  • Strong Performances: The actor who performed the role of Surya, Sai Dharam Tej did a good job and NEvelyn can see that he has grown up through this movie. Of the lot, Samyuktha Menon best fits the character of Nandini she has portrayed and adds a shade to it.
  • Atmospheric Cinematography: Among all the positive activities in the horror film, Shamdat Sainudeen has done a splendid job of portraying the cloud and the creeky outlook of the rural village Rudravanam.
  • Impressive Sound Design: The Hindi trailer that has been used in the film and all the sounds have been used and the background score has been composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath which sets up the tension part.

Negatives:

  • Pacing Issues: The tempo in which the film exists might be slow to certain people at a certain part in the film which is way better than the second half of the film.
  • Predictable Plot Points: It has been discovered that some developments made in the narration can be trite or overused in the eyes of the audience of the Gothic romance leading to the problem of predictability.
  • Underdeveloped Supporting Characters: On the whole, Surya and Nandini are developed characters, and there is room for some of the supporting cast to be slightly better explored by the creators and prove more enticing to the audience as a result.

Technical Aspects:

  • Direction: While telling a heart-wrenching story and working as a horror director, Karthik Varma Dandu leans on conventions a little too often.
  • Cinematography: The scenes are supposed to be lit, and the dark feeling of the movie as well as the clever use of the darkness is shown nicely.
  • Editing: The editing being done by Navin Nooli is also commendable; however, one finds some sections of this book might have been better tightened up.

Performance:

The role Sai Dharam Tej dons is Surya,>Sai Dharam Tej, especially who changes from a submissive role to that of Investigating Officer seems to be convincingly cool and interesting. Nandini, portrayed by Samyuktha Menon, gets its shades of a grey spot on and she. Till now, Rajeev Kanakala and Sai Chand have done a notable job in supporting the story.

Moviepoptime Review:

In all the years since I’ve watched such an amazing thriller movie ever. That there is no ‘compare’ with any other film provides the logical strength for claiming that Virupaksha is of a kind movie in this genre. Sai Dharam gave the best performance in any of his previous films. I thought that Samyuktha Menon did a fabulous job. The main attributes of the movie are great story, music and cartoon elements, scenery and an impressive staking background. We never doze off at any point of the movie, not even a particular second of it.

The director was very successful in telling a story with a powerful script of the movie. Each actor gave justice to his or her role. At least one should applaud the worry that the director has shown in placing the twists at surprising times: every time we’ll feel thrilled when the twist is shown. Especially climax is much better than you imagine it to be. Except for this, I wouldn’t have much to say more on the issue. It is worth a watch movie. I tell people – just go watch it in theatres, that way, you will get the full experience. Never miss this movie.

Conclusion:

The sheer horror thriller “Virupaksha” has the right measure of supernatural and seconds social message on fear and superstition. The rhythm might be estranged and there will be scenes that can be easily guessed, but the film still sustains with its performances, good technicality, and a proper solluduggubangi platform. Hence ‘Virupaksha’ is recommended for the lovers of horror thrillers available on the big screen to find a more engaging fresh plot with a few better layers attached to it.
