Indian 2 is on its way, yet Kamal Haasan’s powerful line in Kalki 2898 AD resonates throughout time.

Indian 2: Kamal Haasan repeats the iconic Sri Sri line after 44 years, leaving the audience spellbound in Kalki 2898 AD.

Kamal Haasan is renowned for his ability to play a variety of roles, including hero, villain, comedian, and character artist.

Even though Prabhas portrayed the protagonist in the film Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, his performance created a lasting impression. Kamal Haasan’s portrayal of the character Supreme Yaskin piqued everyone’s interest, particularly his final line, which had a deep impact on the audience.

Kamal Haasan delivers a striking phrase in the film’s climax: “Jagannatha Ratha Chakralu Vastunayi..” This statement, spoken in his distinct voice, ignited the theatres. It emphasized the significance of Kamal Haasan’s character in the film’s universe. Interestingly, this statement is borrowed from a poem by the great poet Sri Sri, notably from his masterpiece Mahaprasthanam. Kamal Haasan delivered this statement with such intensity that it struck a deep chord with the audience. Notably, Kamal Haasan had delivered this exact sentence in another film 44 years prior.

Kamal Haasan acted in the 1980 film Akali Rajyam, directed by K. Balachander. In this film, Kamal Haasan played a man who was a huge devotee of Sri Sri. Regardless of the circumstances—whether it was love, hardship, grief, starvation, or depression—Kamal’s character in the film would repeat Sri Sri’s poems. In a notable scene, Kamal’s character exclaims, “Jagannatha Ratha Chakralu Vastunayi…” Hearing Kamal deliver this dialogue in Kalki 2898 AD elicited the same deep emotions as it had four decades previously.

Kamal Haasan is now promoting his new film, Indian 2, which will be released across India on July 12. This film, directed by Shankar, stars Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. In Telugu, the film will be known as Bharateeyudu 2. The film was bankrolled by Subaskaran Allirajah through Lyca Productions.
