In an interview, the IF star revealed that he had no idea if he would ever get to portray Deadpool again.
We are now officially in Deadpool and Wolverine month! Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman play the titular roles in the MCU superhero film. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the duo on film. Furthermore, Ryan hasn’t played Wade Wilson as Deadpool in six years. So, fans are ecstatic about this film.
Many have questioned what would happen to Deadpool once Disney and Fox merged. Ryan Reynolds questioned his superhero franchise. Well, everything has fallen into place, and we will soon see him in action alongside Deadpool and Wolverine in the Shawn Levy-directed film. But did you know that once this script was completed, the Red Notice actor had some further ideas for the franchise’s future? Those proposals, however, were not accepted.
Ryan Reynolds’s Rejected Deadpool 3 Ideas
In an interview, the IF star admitted that he didn’t know if he’d ever get to portray Deadpool again. The actor would not have said something like this in public, but he had no idea how his character would fit into the MCU universe.
Ryan Reynolds also informed Entertainment Weekly about his ideas for the third installment. One of the concepts was a “Rashomon story with three different points of view.” The actor said, “It was a $5 or $6 million budget with no special effects.” It was just a talkie-talkie road journey with myself and [Karan Soni’s character] Dopinder, and some of the things we found and saw along the route. It was not intended to be an event film. If we’re on our way to Point C, it was only supposed to get us to Point B. That was the strangest one. I enjoyed it. I thought it was kind of fun.
That sounds like a really fun idea!
Ryan’s suggestions, however, were rejected, and Marvel chose to feature Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the threequel. We can’t wait to see what disaster Wade Wilson made that led him to the TVA. Deadpool & Wolverine will open in theaters on July 26, 2024.
