Story:
The protagonist of the series is a woman named Ana, played by Camila Mends, who is a smart, but quite young curator who gets a major blow in her career when working for numerous companies in New York. When she corrects a great error in an auction catalogue she is called upon to accompany her pushy superior Claire (Marisa Tomei) on a business trip to London. During the flight; in a different seat in the upper class; at the same table, she meets a perverted man, William (Archie Renaux) and befriends him.
Though Ana has a good job she wants to make a good impression of herself to William therefore when he asks, she tells him she works for the auction house as the director and not an assistant. This is true when analyzing the seductive and complicated physical and emotional experiences the young woman is to undergo as the couple move from one glamorous event in London characterized by pretentious socialites to the other with the potential, but fake, artist sweetheart, Christian Grey, while attempting to balance her lie with her desired occupation in the arts.
Review:
Controversies about the single “Upgraded” have however been moderately positive. While some of its viewers enjoy its not-so-complicated storyline involving funny characters and real-life stars, others notice cliches of all typical romantic comedies. The path of interconnection between personal objective and affectionate love balances so well with the storyline, but at the same time, it defines predictable in some points.
Positives:
- Strong Performances: Camila Mendes fits the role of Ana very well, and is great at conveying an optimistic apprehensive attitude. As for Archie Renaux, he also plays her complement alongside William; he’s charismatic and charming.
- Engaging Humor: There is certainly a whole lot of tom and catered scenes that are funny and the movie also has some incidences of love related to it that are rather beautiful.
- Visual Appeal: The use of camera and lens work do a good job in taking shots that depict New York and London this is with the improvements of the looks of the film.
- Empowering Themes: In a way this film conveyed something about greed, more often than not about a woman having to compete in a man’s world and hence the character of Ana added more depth and layers to it.
Negatives:
- Predictable Plot Points: It is noted that the idea of the plot of the shown film is quite standard for romantic comedies and seems to be trivial and quite easy to foresee for those who focused on watching the movies of the mentioned filmmakers.
- Pacing Issues: In terms of issues of plot some scenes are even boring and not as fast as people would prefer especially knowing that there is a twist in the story.
- Underdeveloped Supporting Characters: Although it is perfectly permissible to classify Ana and William as created characters, there may be other characters who may be considered insufficient for the role; that is why some viewers will be disappointed.
Technical Aspects:
- Direction: BY the way, there are much simpler stereotypical features commonly attributed to the genre of supernatural TV shows, so the sharpness and suspense indicators are slightly less here. The film is mostly cheerful and the darkness of the story materials should be dealt with in a slightly different manner.
- Cinematography: The cinematography excellently allows for brief moments in the lives of the characters, as well as the happy Orpheus in New York and gloomy Eurydice in London.
- Editing: The editing is fairly good up to a certain point of the film and it is too fast at some points and could have been steadier.
Performance:
Camila Mendes played the character, Ana and she was charming and convincing giving the audience someone they could relate to. The cast is quite good playing their part to the latter, Archie Renaux does a well enough job of protagonist William who is depicted as sweet and humorous. Marisa Tomei delivers widely as Claire Dupont, whose character demands quite a lot from the protagonist. The other characters are cast well and act well though they seem to lack some dimension.
Moviepoptime Review:
I think it has been a good while since I saw a romantic comedy movie. Although they’re not produced as they used to be, this film was a good start. Of all the cast members, I liked lead Camila Mendes. She is well-dressed and enough interactive in front of the cameras. I found it enlightening how the actor played Archie. Although there are some similarities between them and The Devil Wears Prada, it is completely different. It’s entertaining as a romantic comedy when all the viewer has to do is switch off his brain and enjoy. I am expecting Camila Mendes in the future to play more parts to me.
Conclusion:
As a result, it is necessary to look at the series kanp-e-ki ‘Upgraded’ to watch the light romance of the comedy with jokes and passionate scenes. It is not especially original in terms of storyline and has the odd problem of pacing but its success mainly thanks to Mendes’ fine performance could make it appealing to the lovers of a certain kind of film. As lighthearted and humorous as regarding the concepts of desire and envy, and the gorgeous environments, “Upgraded” will be exciting for any person who goes to the theatre.
