Review:
Bad Trip was well-reviewed by critics, especially for the shocks, which the film brought to the viewers and the acting of Chase and Lil Rel.”. Judging by critical reviews most people found that the movie did a good job in switching between being filthy and having moments of genuine character development.
Plus Points:
- Clever use of hidden camera pranks: The idea of putting real-life pranks combined with the actors’/scripted comedy makes this film very interesting and funny all through.
- Strong performances: Lil Rel Howery, Eric André and Tiffany Haddish do a good job of comedy and movements.
- Engaging storyline: Concentrating on jokes, the film is built to be very consequent, telling a story, that shows viewers how friendship can develop and grow. This confirms the fact that it is more than just a Comedy movie since the makers have also tried to add warmth to the movie in between all the Comedy. Keeps viewers engaged throughout.
- Surprising moments of heart: While primarily a comedy, Bad Trip manages to incorporate heartwarming moments that add depth to the characters and their relationships.
Minus Points:
- Uneven pacing: As regards the movie’s rhythm, it has proved rather variable with some scenes that look rather too long and others that look too short at the same time.
- Predictable plot: Certain parts are somewhat predictable for an audience of buddy comedy stories, based on clichés typical for this kind of movie.
- Some pranks fall flat: Unfortunately, there are a couple of gags that come off painfully contrived or distastefully awkward instead of even slightly amusing.
Technical Aspects:
Bad Trip has a runtime of 84 minutes and is presented in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The director of photography Andrew Laboy does a good job with filming the hidden camera pranks and the response of common men. Barney Pilling’s editing keeps the flow of the story going and well synchronized which is quite a task given the premise of the movie.
The composer, K. Göransson insisted on the above statements about the pleasant sound as well as the addition of humour and emotions in the scenes of the movie. In specific, possible, the sound design helps the audience to better feel the movie’s setting which is also a plus.
Performance:
Personally, the pick of the cast is Eric André, who plays the role of Chris to the letters as the humour, albeit borders crude sometimes, but then switches on the sentimental mode with incredible ease. Lil Rel Howery plays Bud, Koy’s sidekick; he gives the role substance plus plays off André in an amusing way.
This movie is predominantly hilariously funny, and the legendary Tiffany Haddish living her best life as the character Trina. Michaela Conlin does a good job as well as Maria, although she often has to be funny in response to André, she does not lose her personality. The other actors such as Michaela Conlin, Brilane Balancia and Ashwin Mathur also aid in the production of humour within the film and help to try and make the entire environment believable for pranks to be pulled off.
MoviePopTime Review:
I came out of the movie Bad Trip full of joy and confusion as it came packaged as a comedy trip. The movie includes segments ofOST comedy and practical jokes on the road trip of two friends heading to NYC with a sister and a.formData, played by Tiffany Haddish in tow.
The comedy is crude and tasteless most of the time and love the slapstick gross-out humour you get here. I laughed my head off of Eric André especially the scene where he becomes a gorilla. It helped that Tiffany Haddish was energetic and unpredictable, which turned into hilarious in every scene that she was involved in.
Although is a vague story, hardly even a story to be honest, used solely as a backdrop for a series of pranks, the genuine reactions of the people caught in the prank were a welcome addition. The film is one that each can not sit through or enjoy depending on one’s preference for this kind of comedy but it was fun to me. Essentially Bad Trip is a silly, outrageous movie and if you are in the mood for watching one you’re going to have a ball of time.
Conclusion:
Bad Trip is a kind of fresh and rather amusing comedy which combines the scenarios of two friends with the given hidden camera practical jokes. A lot of people may not be able to watch it because of the crude jokes and sometimes slow montage but the film is funny, and the cast is amazing thanks to good direction.
Lil Rel Howery is terrific as the nerdy best friend of Eric who motivates him throughout the movie; Tiffany Haddish as a sassy, ill-mannered – but talented and gorgeous – woman who becomes the girlfriend of Eric is amazing. The subtlety of advancing humour and adding an element of the heart to the film makes the film stand out from other hidden-camera comedies and will be enjoyable for anybody who follows such films.
In conclusion, Bad Trip is a refreshing and raunchy comedy movie that turns out to have quite a lot of substance to it heart aching moments behind most pranks are not for everyone due to its crude humour and occasional pacing issues, but the film delivers plenty of laughs and memorable moments thanks to its talented cast and clever direction.
Eric André, Lil Rel Howery, and Tiffany Haddish shine in their respective roles, showcasing their comedic skills and physical comedy abilities. The film’s ability to balance humour with heart sets it apart from other hidden-camera comedies, making it a worthwhile watch for fans of the genre. Overall, Bad Trip is a hilarious and surprisingly heartwarming film that delivers on its promise of outrageous pranks and memorable characters. Even though it may not reinvent comedy from scratch it must suffice as a worthy comedy flick that will make people burst out laughing.
