After a comedy of errors at a fire station, the family decides to become full-time ‘Ghostbusters’ and happen on a supernatural opportunity or an ancient sceptre bought by Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) that causes a relatively unbeatable ghost to be unleashed and another which kicks starts the Ice Age.

Finally, when these old and new teams of Ghostbusters come together to fight this menace, they are accompanied and interrupted by a string of characters including the smart Winston Zeddemore, the spirited Janine Melnitz, and the tricky Mayor Walter Peck. It attempts to identify the roles of a family, roles that stem from lineage and other roles that require identifying the role of protecting individuals from the forces of darkness.

Review:

“Ghostbusters: The movie that has become the franchise’s recent addition is entitled “Frozen Empire” and has been directed by Gil Kenan. Alas, in its rather pitiful attempt to be a part of this ongoing series, the movie simply thrusts nostalgia down our throats at the cost of completely ignoring innovation.

It has talented actors like McKenna Grace and Paul Rudd and their performance was good throughout this film. However, in areas as critical as the timing of scenes where it deviates, the really bad character progression, many scenes feel so packed or just flat-out unoriginal. While looking quite stylish and presenting some cool and fun action scenes, what has been lost is for the most part the proper funny-bone feeling of The Pink Panther series.

Overall, “Ghostbusters: With ‘Frozen Empire’ offers a fun, but highly flawed addition to the series which will probably be a lot of fun for fans of the series but will leave most other people hoping for the spirit of the charm and warmth of the original comedies.

Positives:

  • Strong Performances: The cast brings a lot of energy to the show; many thanks go to Mckenna Grace for starring as Phoebe and Kumail Nanjiani for playing Nadeem.
  • Nostalgia Factor: What is curious is that the plot has quite a lot of references to the movies which were shown before “Ghostbusters II”, that is why everybody who watched the two previous films, definitely enjoyed the new continuation but at the same time the film introduces new characters.
  • Impressive Visual Effects: It is very well set with good visual effects, mainly, the ghostly appearances and the film snow background.

Negatives:

  • Pacing Issues: this brings out the fact that while at other times the film uses extended takes where scenes are filled with close shots detailing some incidents, some scenes that appear significant are sloppily captured and edited.
  • Overcrowded Cast: One of the issues with the major cast is that there simply isn’t enough focus on the characters of the movie, and this can cause extraordinarily weak plots in some instances.
  • Predictable Plot: Although there are occasions of creativity throughout the film it is otherwise fairly conventional in terms of plot and does not have a twist factor.

Technical Aspects:

  • Direction: The movie does elicit decent directing from Gil Kenan; it is an action-comedy movie that, for the most part, feels nostalgic… but there are times when it is off.
  • Cinematography: The setting conforms to the principles of New York, and the elements typical for the ‘ghost’ subgenre while, at the same time, Don’t Breathe lacks iconic shots.
  • Score: As deserved, Dario Marianelli composed orchestrated and embraced some of the tunes from the original ’Ghostbusters’ while giving the movie an updated vibe.

Performance:

It is powered by a stable cast, where Mckenna Grace and Kumail Nanjiani give something extra. Eniola Grace gives a brilliant performance of the character Phoebe, and the movement of the character and the growth of her emotional healing arc can be seen. As for Nanjiani, he injects humour and complexity into Nadeem with some of the movie’s righteous laughs. There’s still a fine returning cast of Murray, Aykroyd, Hudson, and others that bring back memories onto the silver screen.

Moviepoptime Review:

I must say, that one of the greatest Comedy movies I have seen in a long time! Here’s why.

This film has made the list to be considered as part of the collection that is considered as the family movie. I’d like to give the first round of applause to the people who cast this show, the actors. The beautiful crew of males and females which assisted in executing a brightly effective strike is superb.

Bill Murray is another win on its own. Speaking of the comedy note that made the Schweppes lime taste so crisp, Kumail Nanjiani was perfectly cast for his role. As for the people who are writing the story. Well done. In all cases, it was a perfect fit. Cinderella would be proud. One could say that the jokes were exactly what the audience wanted.

It is difficult for me to describe how delighted the gift attracted me. All of them were so natural one after the other. I wanted seconds! The ending was so emotional when she called him that. This is the exact type of deliciously drop-dead gorgeous film that any self-respecting audience should be asked to swallow. Not only was I entertained but I got that feeling of being alive. This is the family film of the year.

Absolutely no doubt about it. I wish the dead could see it! For the benefit of this world, it is my true desire that I could personally extend my thanks to every person who was involved in this magnanimous creation we all got to witness. Remarkable work everyone!!! Thanks to this motion picture, I have made some undeniable faith in the movie industry. Waiting for the next one guys!

Conclusion:

“Ghostbusters: As for the fans of a series trying to be like Frozen Empire, this work can be recommended as amusing and singing with childish joy albeit with too many issues like pacing, the issue of hoi polloi characters. In my opinion, it has such distinctive benefits as brilliant visualization, rather impressive actors’ acting, and correlation of the sequences of the motion picture and some minutes of the previous cinematic productions. However, the movie does not achieve what could have been done because of the kind of structured narration and condensation of the story.

While not a perfect sequel, “Ghostbusters: This novel forms part of the humorous Johannes Cabal sub-series of adventures set in the Frozen Empire. It can be read independently and on its own, as the sixth book in the series and yet, it is just as chock full of funny and engaging moments as the previous novels in the main series which lie outside the sub-series.
