Uorfi Javed presented as a guest speaker at the India Today Conclave in Mumbai and discussed her social media output. She shared some frank details about leaving her parent’s house and her father’s.
Uorfi Javed, an actor and social media star who spoke as a guest at India Today Conclave Mumbai 2023, acknowledged that she “capitalizes on her sexualization.” Uorfi made some open revelations during her speech at the Mumbai Conclave 2023 session titled “Turning Heads & Slaying With Bold Sartorial Style.” She admitted that she takes advantage of her sexualization, but she also said that this is nothing new.
“We never hold males accountable and claim that their glance is inappropriate; instead, I’m constantly held accountable. I’ll confess that I take advantage of my sexualization, but it’s nothing new. It has long been a practice in films and among directors. The idea is that despite sexualizing women in their films, women are the ones who suffer the backlash while the movie directors and producers profit. I wanted to be in charge, sexualize myself, and earn my own money,” Uorfi added.
Uorfi fled home at the age of 17, and she attributes her departure to her father’s violent and traditional upbringing. I left my house when I was 17 and have been living as a vagrant ever since. I’m from Lucknow, yet despite my desire to rebel or something, I stayed at home. My father was quite traditional and physically abusive, and I was very outspoken about what I wore. After a couple of episodes at home, I was left with two choices: I could either take my own life or flee and create my own world. So I went with the latter.
Uorfi also mentioned during the conversation that she had experienced physical and mental abuse but not sexual abuse.
The actress-turned-social media influencer claimed that although living in Mumbai is still difficult, it is still a lot better than it was back in her native Lucknow. Even though I was poor in this place, I had freedom. When I fled my house, I made the decision that I would control my own fate, and that is what propelled me forward. I refused to give any man control over my destiny. I didn’t let my father or my brother make decisions about my future,” the woman added.
When asked if she had ever encountered a predator while forging her own path in Mumbai, she responded, “Yes, I wanted to be an actor, at least that’s what I thought when I moved there. Predators were present while I was barely between the ages of 18 and 19. “Ranbir Kapoor remarked that I lack cool. Everyone has a viewpoint. It’s fine as long as you are not mistreating me, Uorfi said.
