Story:

Set five years after the events of the first Code 8 film, Code 8 Part II centres around Connor (Robbie Amell), who has just been released from prison and finds himself back on the wrong side of the law when he discovers that his old partner in crime Garrett (Stephen Amell) is bulletproof for a drug operation. They, however, meet Pavnai (Sirena Gulamgaus) – she is a young girl who sees her brother killed by corrupt police officers. Hoping to avenge her brother’s death she turns to Connor and they come face to face with a serious-minded but crooked police officer, Sergeant Kingston (Alex Mallari Jr.).

Justice is one of the main subjects of the movie as well as the community and sufferings of super-powered individuals typecast by the society and their rulers.

Review:

Critics and audiences have had different reactions to “Code 8 Part II”. For some, is seen as an effort to address actual-life problems in social relationships within the context of the sci-fi series, while others perceive it as characters’ MotW stand-ins. The fight scenes and the graphic effects have been received well but most people view it as only going forward on a general premise from its prequel.

Positives:

  • Relevant Themes: The themes include police brutality and inequality which when you view the movie are political since the film was made.
  • Solid Performances: Robbie Amell did a very good job of playing Connor while Stephen did as good a job playing Garrett as the show’s more antagonistic anti-hero. That is why Sirena Gulamgaus as Pavnai also deserves special attention – the actress invested many emotions.
  • Engaging Action Sequences: The action scenes or the shoot ’em up sequences are quite nicely done with splendid montage and the right dash of punch to make the whole thing watchable for a large part.
  • World-Building: The new film builds up the narrative found in “Code 8,” and adds new characters for depiction of the relations within the world of Powers.

Negatives:

  • Pacing Issues: There are problems of systematic continuity, the progression of one or several characters is unconvincing insofar as the first half of the picture suggests this.
  • Predictable Plot Points: It splits the viewers, but the principal drawback again refers to the absence of suspense: some of the developments in the story are predictable.
  • Underdeveloped Supporting Characters: Although some of the characters are described as the secondary or the tertiarium some of them remain a stranger to the reader and some of the characters can for sure continue developing as they do affect the storyline significantly.

Technical Aspects:

  • Direction: Although shooting the film with a consistent tone, Jeff Chan tends to focus on the right balance of action and dialogue scenes successfully.
  • Cinematography: The shooting of the film offers a depiction of the real location of Lincoln City and gives a real outlook for the ideas of superpowers that make the film more involving.
  • Editing: It may have been beneficial for the smooth velocity of the action and the interest in the action could have been tightened during some slow moments.

Performance:

Robbie Amell does a very good job of embodying the internal turmoil of the character Connor Procházka. It’s also impressive to note that Stephen Amell is portraying the character of Garrett, a drug dealer, who also features other elements of unpredictability in the series. Sirena Gulamgaus is also good at portraying Pavnai; she tries to show passion added to her transformation. Several character actors are fine, and only a few don’t receive a lot of growth for certain characters.

Moviepoptime Review:

A good watch. As far as the middle one, I thought that the movie was a bit less and a little more plain there as well but the last 30-40 minutes are, I believe, the strongest when the movie is heading to the end.

The renewed possibility of actual robotic canines being built and being employed soon should be said to further enhance the eerie robotic K9s in this movie. On the same note, the movie also sees a future where such machines may be employed by, and into the hands of, the likes of, Sergeant King type of fellows. I believe Garret’s actor Stephen Amell and his counterpart Alex Mallari Jr., did a great job on this one. Pavani and Connor were the other two central protagonists, and they did not look as appealing as those two.

Conclusion:

”Code 8 Part II” is an attempt to provide a sequel to the first part, and explore contemporary social issues in a sci-fi universe. Regarding the downside’s part, there are two regulation concerns regarding speed and some predictable aspects of the movie They are insignificant nonetheless and do little to reduce the glister of the movie For an action entertainment movie it is quite a recommendable action entertainer with good choreography of action sequences. Thus, even though it fails to get the most profit and does not deepen the characters to the extent necessary, Yes, the “Code 8 Part II” film is worth watching, it makes a superhero movie think about the state of society and evoke admiration.
